So it's been awhile since I last posted anything really. Not that what I post is interesting anyway :/ However, I wanted to continue my ranting about nothing and everything. This time I want to discuss how stupid republicans are as a whole...just kidding...no I'm serious. It's not just republicans, but democrats as well. Now, before anyone reading this (which is probably one really bored soul and insomniacs) freaks out, I do not claim to know a lot about politics, but I do know what is right and wrong. I like most Americans are fed up with the government. Some are calling for Obama's head to be served on a platter. It is insane though. There is no doubt that this country is in a shitty situation, however to say that it is Obama's alone fault is crazy. Does anyone remember we had a president before Obama that drove this country into the ground? I guess not.

I do not understand how someone can come to the conclusion that Obama is the problem. One does not have to agree with is views, or what he plans to do, but give the man a chance. I am sick and tired of hearing he's a socialist or any of that nonsense. Where do you people get this stuff from? Oh wait, I know. Glenn Beck and company. Does any republican realize that Beck says most of the stuff he does to get ratings? TV News is nothing more than a ratings war. But let's say he is a "socialist". So was Jesus right? Most conservatives are christian therefore they believe in Jesus and he preached socialism!

Right from the good book itself! So giving away your money is a positive if you want to get closer to your lord and savior. But I do get that you do not want to give it all to the government and democrats because it may not go to good use. That said one cannot hide behind that excuse forever, but that is a discussion for another day. It's time to complain about those evil progressives!

They surely are evil wanting to help the less fortunate. Now, I am being a tiny bit biased as I tend to agree with more liberal ideas, however I am just fed up with democrats as well. It seems as though they want to give money away to people who really do not use it to better themselves. Time and time again they fund a program that gives to a minority group because it is a minority group. Why? Equality means that everyone has a fair chance. To think that black people or any other people that are not white need a hand out is crazy! In fact white people are the ones that need help! Every other race seems to be progressing. Wait! Why should it have anything to do with race?! The democrats need to learn to help EVERYONE that needs it. The middle class especially. They also need to develop some kind of a backbone and fight back fear that conservatives put into the hearts and minds of American citizens. Enough is enough!

We need to change the way the country works as a whole. As Jon Stewart's rally said, we need to restore sanity. Stop fighting over the little things and learn that both sides cannot get everything they want and not all of it is good. Realize that religion should be nowhere near government. That EVERY politician has good intentions. That your President is not a socialist, but a man who defied odds to become the leader of the free world. Realize that we need to work together and change the way we view politics. No more liberal or conservative because we can be both. Moderation is the key to salvation!

Why a Realistic Ending is a Happy Ending

I am currently watching one of my favorite movies, 500 Days of Summer. So, this is basically my opinion based from this movie. For people who never saw this wonderful independent film that won multiple awards at Sundance, then was released in theaters, here is a plot summary from imdb :

"After it looks as if she's left his life for good this time, Tom Hansen reflects back on the just over one year that he knew Summer Finn. Despite being physically average in almost every respect, Summer had always attracted the attention of men, Tom included. For Tom, it was love at first sight when she walked into the greeting card company where he worked, she the new administrative assistant. Soon, Tom knew that Summer was the woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. Although Summer did not believe in relationships or boyfriends - in her assertion, real life will always ultimately get in the way - Tom and Summer became more than just friends. Through the trials and tribulations of Tom and Summer's so-called relationship, Tom could always count on the advice of his two best friends, McKenzie and Paul. However, it is Tom's adolescent sister, Rachel, who is his voice of reason. After all is said and done, Tom is the one who ultimately has to make the choice to listen or not."

Tom Hansen played by Joseph Gordon Levitt who believes in fate and love at first sight. It shows how he learns over looking back at his memories with Summer, played by Zooey Deschannel that she was not that perfect and that you cannot really say there is love at first sight. What is so great about it is that it deals with his feelings both good and bad, and how he tries to get Summer back but it does not happen. The memories show him having the time of his life with her then going to him finding out that she got married. He has a talk with her and hears how his feelings rubbed off on her and ultimately caused her to accept a first date with her future husband. After, his moping and sorrow is through he decides to try to become an architect. During a wait at an interview he meets Autumn who he asks on date, and she accepts.

Though this may not be a happy ending, however you could say he has hope with a new girl. The great part about this ending is it not the Hollywood ending the studios say people ask for or want. It so accurately shows how a relationship can go from picture perfect to a nightmare in hell. I think this movie is such a great film for that fact and also how people can change another's life without even being in their life anymore. But back to why this realistic ending is a happy ending.

Movies have the power to teach us and change our lives. Which is why this moving's ending is a happy ending because you can reach a catharsis through understanding and relating in some way to Tom's situation. Whether its a crush, a fling, or a long standing relationship that you need to get over, Tom's misery and what he learns can help you learn. I hope to see more movies like this one.

Inception Ending Part II

The more I or anyone try to figure out the ending of this movie, the more trouble we have finding a true answer. Then after seeing it a second time last night, thinking over it, and reading the bio of Christopher Nolan two different endings came to me.

One was that it was a paradox like the staircase. Why? Well because every answer has holes in it, but makes sense. Saito tricks Cobb, well then if Cobb died in limbo there would be no way Saito tricked Cobb because Cobb would be back in reality. The Wedding ring theory of him having it off and on in dreams could be a mistake when filming, probably is meaningful however cannot truly be confirmed yet. Inception on Fischer makes no sense either, I mean how could a weak energy company owner make one call and get a murder charge dropped or if one could do that why would he need help from Cobb? The totem can only make a person sure they are not in someone else's dream not theirs. So, if it drops it just means at least he is in his dream.

Now, all those reason could add up to a paradox ending because there is a counter argument to him being in a dream and in reality. So, therefore no answer is right but there has to be an answer.

The second answer is more appealing to me and is the fact its reality, but why its reality. I used quotes and info from IMDB.com to back up my reasoning. Now, I believe its reality at the end because it would be to simple to say its a dream. Also, Nolan wants to kind of play to our fears of conspiracies.

"Yes, to me that's one of the most compelling fears in film noir and the psychological thriller genre - that fear of conspiracy. It's definitely something that I have a fear of - not being in control of your own life. I think that's something people can relate to, and those genres are most successful when they derive the material from genuine fears that people have."

I think Nolan's point to this movie is to show us our fear of not having the ability to have any control over out lives. As Cobb never can know if he is dreaming or not and always has to spin the totem to make sure he is not in someone else's dream.

I truly believe that the movie is all of dream up until the plane ride when he wakes up. I think that Cobb was guilty of his wife passing, but not because he did inception on her. My thoughts are that he is just a business man or an important man that is away a lot. He wanted to see his kids before he left, but did not take the chance to. The dream seems to James Bond (at least when he is in someone else's dream). Nolan just happens to be a huge Bond fan as well.

Cobb's dream was all about him realizing what is important in his life and making the right choices. To me the whole inception and extraction stuff is too unreal, the story we were told was the story of his dream world. It was just trying to show us his thoughts and feelings. I know this is a stretch and involves changing a lot around and guessing a lot. The quotes getting thrown around by the same person makes me wonder how can there be real people if they are all saying things alike. The fact that Eames, Arthur, and Ysuf knew so much about the Mal ordeal even though they never met her or Cobb before it happened. Maybe they all are just apart of his mind in its process to settle Cobb's issues.

The ending scene with the totem falling or not falling does not matter because it is heard falling after the screen goes black. So he could be dreaming, but to the logic of limbo it makes no sense. The kids looking as they were before does not make the scene not real. We do not really know how long he was gone and even though he was gone for a while lets say, the image of the kids we see at the end could be the way he remembers his kids, as you can often envision someone you have not seen in a while as you last saw them.

Overall, this is a movie that needs director commentary to set the record straight. I hope you enjoyed my second post and remember to comment and follow as well!

Inception Ending

It was all a Dream

Inception has only been in theaters a few days, however its already the topic of many. Mainly because of the ending and what it means. Before I tell you about my thoughts on the ending, I think everyone has to agree that this is one of the best movies that has come out in a long time. Also, this may be an all time classic.

Now there are a few theories I have seen.

1. Cobb is not dreaming and it is all real
2. Cobb is dreaming
3. Saito tricked Cobb

Well, my theory falls in with number 2, however I believe that it is a mix of 2 & 3. Saito did not trick Cobb, Cobb's father-in-law did. Now, you may ask why would he do that? The answer is simple.
Cobb could have never really went home to see his kids and no foreigner could have pulled strings with one phone call. So Cobb's father-in-law did what was best for Cobb and pulled an inception on his son. The idea that he was in "reality" (being able to see his kids). How could you pull of an Inception? Well they tell you, you need a strong positive emotion. What was his emotion? Love. Cobb's love and desire to see his kids made him willing accept he was given one last mission to be bale to go home.

So, with my theory we have an idea that is needed to be planted in Cobb and an emotion to go along with it.

Let's take care of Mal before we go onto the sequence of events. Mal is violent and kills anyone. Well only a security system would do that right? That is what those agents were suppose to be doing for Fischer. Thus, Mal's violence is Cobb's self-conscious targeting someone who is trying to change something or steal something. This reasoning would explain why she got in the way of their plans, because she (his self conscious) was trying to stop him from going on.

Sequence of Events

The movie starts in limbo, then goes to Cobb and Arthur's attempt at stealing an idea from Saito. Ok first let me note that the idea was never specific. Like anything in the dream world it is not really real. Therefore there was never really an idea and at that moment the seed was planted. The seed of the idea of escaping and going back to America to see his kids was planted. Let's call that level 1. Level 1 is suppose to last up to 3 hours or so. That little adventure was no more then 3 hours.

Level 2

Level 2 was lasted a few weeks like they said it would. Level 2 is the whole process leading up to the "first" level with Fischer. When Cobb was assembling a team he happened to just end up at each place without showing how he got there really. Cobb visits his father-in-law and does not ask for his help, but for someone younger this is a key part to the film and my theory. Cobb's father-in-law is more skilled than Cobb, he taught Cobb after all. Which means he would be the best for the job. Cobb's father-in-law says he has a student that is better than Cobb is. This is where it takes a turn nobody might have realized. Ariadine meets Cobb and before you know it they are in sync together and Cobb has a very weird trust with her. Also, she knows and catches on too quickly to Cobb's problem which nobody else could find out and they have known him for months. She must know him from somewhere or should I say he? Maybe Ariadine is Cobb's father-in-law. He could be very well skilled enough to project her and then turn into her as Eames turned into Browning. Thus ensuring the mission went according to plan. Let's get back to the team assembling.

Well, Saito during Cobb's chase scene just happened to be where he was and saved him. Wait! Where was Cobb? We never knew where he was to get Eames did we? Then we do not know exactly how they got to Yusuf either. Another reason for why it is Cobb's dream.

Intermission

This a very confusing concept that involves breaking down a lot of elements. So before I lose you let us stop and go over previous points made.

1. Cobb is dreaming at the end

2. The whole movie is Cobb's dream and the Inception attempt by his father-in-law to let him see his kids with the idea it is reality.

3. Mal is Cobb's security system. Thus, explaining her violence at times his mind may feel threatened.

4. Cobb's father-in-law is Ariadine. Which explains why he trusts her so much and lets her in, as well as how she is so quick to know things about him.

5. Saito's mission is the way they are able to plant the idea in his head. That once this is over he will be able to see his kids.

Level 3

Level 3 is the "inception" attempt on Fischer. Which is the whole plane ride. Now, I am combining the "levels" that Cobb and the rest of the team go through with Fischer as I think it is just another scene constructed and not another level created. This level is about getting Cobb to get over Mal and defeat his guilt as well as his security system. So just like they had a Mr.Charles for Fischer, Ariadine (Cobb's father-in-law) is Cobb's. So they get him to go into the final stage of dreams which is limbo.

*Note - If Ariadine was in Limbo with Cobb she would have washed to the same shore that had Saito.

Limbo

Now, we are back to the beginning of the movie. The real limbo is here, not when Cobb and Ariadine are together. Cobb goes to Saito and he gets him to pretty easily remember their pact, a little to easy. Before you know it, he is in the plane again right? No way of how he got there though. We can assume he got shot, but you can never assume. What does this mean then?

Well, it means that Cobb has been Incepted successfully. He know does not think he is dreaming anymore. So he goes home and everything is fine. Wait, wait, wait! Saito made a phone call in five minutes a murder charge, plus him fleeing was let off. that is impossible for even the President to do. Also, his father-in-law is waiting for him? How could he have known that he would be there I mean Cobb only told him he had a way to get home and he would not tell his dad to wait for him on the chance he got arrested. A major theme from this move is that only when we wake up do we know the little things that were wrong from our dreams. Well Cobb did not notice that his father-in-law just happened to be waiting with no idea he was going to be there.

Now, Cobb is home. First, off he gets home and the house is the exact same. He spins the top on the table and very carelessly leaves without checking it. He has been incepted folks! Why throughout the whole movie would he spin it and check, but not check now? An idea was planted that this was truly "reality". He goes to see his kids who were in the same exact position, looked the same and were the same age. Well that is just not possible, but like I said earlier in dreams we do not notice the errors in them.

Conclusion

Time to bring this all home. The movie is about Inception, but not on Fischer, but on Cobb. It's a plot by his father-in-law to give his son what he wants to see his kid. They used love, the most powerful emotion to plant the idea that he was on a mission and when he "woke" he would be with his kids.

Other important info

I believe that all of the team members worked with Cobb before this inception plan. He really did steal ideas, which gives the team the ability to convince him that he was on a mission. Saito was a projection and is the reason why he aged so much more then Cobb.

When Cobb added his own parts to "Fischer's" dream it was really his own mind trying to take over. I mean Cobb was very good at what he did and his sub-conscious must have assumed something was up. I mean Ariadine is new and she did not screw anything up, but Cobb a seasoned vet did. I do not buy that for one second.

We never knew how Cobb got there and the movie starts out in the middle of an encounter, only as a dream would. To make sure Cobb thought he was out of the dream world, he must be tricked enough to think that he was in it and is the reason for the many "dreams" they had.
